Walking Group

Saturdays 10am.

As well as Yoga & Pilates classes, Yoga Bee has a Walking Group that meets approximately every 6 weeks. Each walk is in a different location – sometimes local to Birdwell where Yoga Bee is based, sometimes a bit further afield but usually within a 45-minute drive.

Physical

Walking is a simple, low-impact activity that’s free and available to everyone, of any age or fitness level.

Walking can help:

  • Maintain healthy weight
  • Improve cardiovascular fitness
  • Strengthen your bones & muscles
  • Support joints
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Boost circulation

Mental

Walking has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety & depression, improve mood & boost self-esteem. Being outdoors in nature gives you a sense of well-being and just makes you feel good. And exploring new places every time makes walking more interesting & enjoyable.

Social

Walking in a group is a fun and sociable way to get active where you can meet new people & build friendships. As well as the sense of community, walking in a group gives you accountability and motivation. You’re more likely to put your boots on and get out there if you’ve arranged to walk with a group. Furthermore, you have the support, encouragement, reassurance & safety of other walkers.

Nature

Connecting with nature can help reduce stress, lower blood pressure and boost your immune function. Enjoying & exploring the beautiful countryside around us helps to increase endorphins – the feel-good hormones – that boost our mood and reduce stress.
